After the break I'm going to build a solar hot water heater for my pool. I think I can get all my supplies for under $150 according to some do it yourself websites I've found. If anybody has some ideas we can draw it up over Christmas break and give it the GO2 touch. Here are some good sites for info...

you have a pool?!
Seriously I would love to be able to help you install. I really would like to be able to get some hands on learning.. Maybe when we take our vacations down there this spring.
Look into passive solar heating. One of the most efficient and least energy hogging ways to heat. Also, I have been talking to one of the guys I work with, and I am going to help him install a underground heater for his driveway to melt the snow, using the heat from ground 5 feet below, which is always at a 45-55 degree. Thought it was a pretty smart idea.
