Double Dipping Allowed! Turbines & Salsa!

alright so here's my question, why can we not double dip when it comes to energy creation?

everywhere we look there is energy being spent, energy being spent is potential for energy to be harvested...

for instance...

-rain falling, put some mini-turbines in your gutters, the whole way down
-water down the drain put a turbine
-micro turbines on planes to power passenger electronics
-they are starting to do this with elevators, capturing energy on the way down and heat recovery systems
-anywhere with movement, capture it, sure its on the micro scale and laws of energy say we can't create a perfect machine where we capture more than we spend but it has to help and maybe we can damn near close to 100% recovery

my latest idea, design a car with wind scoops on the roof, why not recapture some of the spent energy to make the car move and use it to say recharge the hybrid batteries partially. lets get some badass drawings of integrating turbines into a car design.

I like where your heads at on this stuff schriebs, good thinking and some solid article material. If i were you i would really spend the time and write a more-in-depth article about the wasted oppurtunities for energy saving.

I really like this idea, especially the rainwater thing. I'm a big fan of steps towards living with all the advantages of modern technology and advances... but off the grid. Energy recapture is a great way to accomplish this. On a semi-related note, why don't more people utilize rain barrels? They can be made to look like whatever you want, they are immune to water restriction laws, and they can save tons of money. I've mentioned them to my parent sultiple times over the last couple of years and they just don't bite. Curious!?

I think it has to do with water being dirt cheap. Its not worth the time/energy for your parents to utilize a rain barrel. I liken it to the movement towards more fuel efficient cars. I think it has more to do with gas prices going up than people suddenly wanting to be more environmentally conscious. If the price of water doubled or tripled overnight you would see people using rain barrels, not because they care about saving water, but because suddenly the money they save is worth the effort.
